The shipyard

Beneteau is a French shipyard founded in 1884 in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, in the Vendée department, by Benjamin Bénéteau; the historic headquarters still stands in that town today.

Since 1964 it has produced pleasure boats in polyester, complementing its sailing range with a growing motorboat offering. The sailing range includes the Oceanis family (cruising, from around 30 to 60 feet), First (performance and racing, from 14 to 60 feet) and Figaro (one-design racing boats); the motorboat range includes the Flyer (7–10 m) and Antares (7–11 m) day-boats, the Gran Turismo (35–50 feet) cabin cruisers, and the Swift Trawler and Grand Trawler (37–63 feet) trawlers. The boats are built mainly in vacuum-infused fibreglass, at facilities in France, Poland, the United States, Portugal and Tunisia; in Italy, Groupe Beneteau Italia operates in Monfalcone (GO), specialising in vessels over 60 feet for the Beneteau, Jeanneau and Prestige brands.
